If you’re African or African Caribbean in the UK, your risk of developing some heart and circulatory diseases can be higher than for other ethnic groups.
What do we mean by African and African Caribbean?
We’re talking about first-generation black Africans and African Caribbeans in the UK. ‘First-generation’ means that you were born in another country and relocated to the UK. There’s some evidence that second and third-generation Africans and African Caribbeans (born in the UK) may also be at higher risk of some heart and circulatory diseases than white Europeans, but more research is needed.
