Ousmaan obtained a BA (Hon) in Professional Housing Studies in 1998 and worked in the housing sector as up until 2007.

His career has taken a different path and his current role is working as a teacher with young people who have been excluded from mainstream school and who are deemed the ‘hardest to reach’. Ousmaan has a unique teaching style which encourages and supports young people on their transition to into adulthood.

In 2017, Ousmaan’s first book ‘I Ain’t Mad At Ya’ was published. ‘I Ain’t Mad At Ya’ documents the social, cultural and political realities of growing up in the 60’s/70’s, as a black youth on the Aston/Handsworth border and exposes the issues faced by the black, predominately African-Caribbean, community and the daily racism they faced in school, on the streets and in the workplace.
